The product

A marketplace and learning environment in one connected platform.

Eddi is an education marketplace where learners discover and purchase training while providers manage content, participants and their own branded learning experience. The engagement grew beyond feature implementation into long-term product and technical ownership, with close collaboration on priorities, architecture and delivery decisions.

The challenge

More roles and workflows, without more fragmentation.

The product had to serve learners, education providers and platform administrators without turning each new workflow into a separate system. Provider branding and data boundaries needed to coexist with a shared marketplace, while enrolment, access and payment states had to remain consistent as the feature set evolved.

01

Model distinct learner, provider and administrator permissions without duplicating business logic

02

Support branded provider environments while retaining one maintainable multi-tenant platform

03

Keep course discovery, purchase, enrolment and access states aligned across frontend, APIs and payment events

04

Deliver new requirements continuously without destabilising existing user journeys

The approach

Technical decisions shaped around the product journey.

The work focused on keeping the platform understandable and extensible as both marketplace and learning-management requirements grew.

01

One platform, clear tenant boundaries

Structured provider-aware data access and role checks so each organisation could operate a branded environment while shared marketplace behaviour stayed reusable.

02

API-led learner and provider journeys

Designed maintainable APIs around course management, discovery, enrolment and access, giving the React interface a consistent contract as workflows expanded.

03

Payments connected to product state

Integrated Stripe payment flows so transaction outcomes, enrolment and access could be handled as one reliable business process rather than disconnected steps.

04

Long-term delivery ownership

Worked directly with stakeholders on product decisions, trade-offs and priorities, carrying context from requirement discovery through implementation and iteration.

Delivery ownership

From implementation to long-term product context.

The role covered hands-on full-stack delivery as well as the technical judgement needed to turn evolving requirements into dependable releases.

  • Owned backend architecture, API design and ongoing product delivery
  • Built the React experiences used across learner and provider workflows
  • Implemented role-based access and multi-tenant provider boundaries
  • Connected course purchase, payment and provider payout workflows
  • Supported technical planning, estimation, reviews and production improvements

Technology

A pragmatic stack for an evolving education product.

The architecture paired a mature API foundation with a responsive web interface, relational data modelling, secure payment processing and cloud deployment.

The outcome

A platform foundation built to keep evolving.

Eddi matured through a sustained engagement rather than a one-off build. The platform gained a maintainable foundation for multiple roles, provider-specific environments, marketplace journeys and payments, while the client retained a technical partner who understood both the codebase and the product decisions behind it.
